Project or Program Management
A project is a singular, focused endeavor with specific criteria for success and completion. An example is a partial or complete conversion from an on-premise data center to a cloud solution such as Amazon Web Services (my specialty). A program could include multiple projects which must be completed in order to achieve an overall goal for the program (e.g., consolidating systems after a merger, or modernizing the tools that an organization is using to execute a set of business processes).
I have 25+ years of experience as both a project and program manager. I am equally adept at infrastructure and application development projects. I am a PMP, a ScrumMaster, and certified in ITIL Foundations v3.
AWS (Amazon Web Services) Solutions Architecture
As an AWS Solutions Architect, I take pride in my ability to help clients make optimal use of the many advantages which AWS can provide. I focus on AWS because I have been extremely impressed with their commitment to enhance their products and to stay on the cutting edge of cloud technology. I hold three AWS certifications. Here are a few of the services that you can expect from me as an AWS Solutions Architect:
- Facilitate AWS cloud infrastructure design sessions including complete migrations, new build-outs or hybrid on-premise/cloud configurations
- Produce useful network diagrams and documentation throughout the process.
- Work with your development teams to ensure that the infrastructure is designed thoughtfully with regard to development, test and production environments and the types of applications that will be hosted.
- Incorporate fail-over, redundancy, high-availability and disaster recovery planning into the design process.
- Educate the team on the availability of AWS-managed or AWS marketplace products and services an assist in the evaluation of appropriate tool sets (third-party or AWS).
- Incorporate optimal cost savings benefits, taking full advantage of the many ways in which AWS can save an organization money when compared with traditional, on-premise data centers.
- Proactively design the solution so that it complies with the security standards required by your organization (see below).
IT Security Management and Compliance
Regardless of the standards with which your organization must comply (e.g., ISO 9001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, ITAR, FedRAMP, etc.), I can help you navigate the labyrinth of documentation which is required. This includes plans, policies and procedures for disaster recovery, business continuity, access control, incident management, change and configuration management, patch management, vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection and protection, penetration testing and many others.
